Upon successful completion, the participant will be able to:

• describe the role of JCL in requesting services of MVS

• describe the major modules in MVS for selection, execution and termination of tasks.

• · list the difference between logical and physical records

• describe the addressing and physical characteristics of magnetic disk and tape devices

• debug and fix problems with JCL code

• describe the Storage Management Subsystem and how it effects the way JCL is coded

• code JCL to:

1. execute programs
2. develop and execute instream procedures
3. invoke catalogued procedures
4. create and utilize Generation Data Groups
