Prerequisites

Familiarity with TSO and COBOL is helpful.

Objectives

Upon successful completion, the participant will be able to:
  • code SQL to solve business problems.
  • code using the following SQL techniques:

Group By, Joins, Sub-Selects, Correlated Sub-Selects and Views.

  • code embedded SQL within COBOL.
  • discuss the steps in getting COBOL with embedded SQL to run in an MVS environment.
  • discuss Plans, Packages, Collection Ids and Stored Procedures.
  • use EXPLAIN to evaluate the performance of SQL statements.
  • Code SQL to examine the DB2 Catalog.
