Audience

Business folks who are using DB2 SQL and need to utilize some of the more advanced features.

 

Prerequisites

Business folks who have attended the introduction to DB2 for BSA’s class or have comparable experience.

 

Objectives

Upon successful completion, the participant will be able to:

·        review using the basic SQL structure of:

            Select, From, Group by, Having and Order by

·        code using the following SQL techniques:

            Simple or Inner Joins, Outer Joins, Sub-Selects, Correlated       Sub-            Selects, Unions, Intersect and Except

·                    Create queries using some of the following:

            Case Expression

            Additional functions such as:

            Cast, Count_Big, Length, Left, Locate, Mod, Posstr, Right, and       Trunc

            Additional Date functions such as:

            Dayofmonth, Dayofweek, Dayofyear, and Julian_Day

            Rollup with a Group By

·        code Action queries:

            Delete, Insert and Update

·                    Create queries using some the following temporary table techniques:

            Nested Table Expressions and Temp tables.

·                    Discuss how to code to enhance performance.
