Audience

Programmers who have coded SQL to create simple queries from a DB2 data base.

Prerequisites

Attending the DB2SQL class and familiarity with TSO and COBOL.

Objectives

Upon successful completion, the participant will be able to:
  • code using the following SQL techniques:

Simple or Inner Joins, Outer Joins, Sub-Selects, Correlated Sub- Selects.

  • Create queries using some of the following:

Fetch First N Rows Only

Case Expression

Additional functions such as:

Cast, Count_Big, Length, Left, Locate, Mod, Posstr, Right, and Trunc

Additional Date functions such as:

Dayofmonth, Dayofweek, Dayofyear, and Julian_Day

Rollup with a Group By
  • Create DB2 Triggers.
  • Create DB2 COBOL Stored Procedures.
  • Run and evaluate an SQL EXPLAIN.
  • Discuss some performance tips for SQL performance.
